Founded by former Lafayette High wrestling coach /current Comeaux High Asst. wrestling coach Glenn Bernard in January 2010. We started out with 11 wrestlers and now we have close to 45 kids. The Lafayette Scrappers Wrestling Club has produced 10-15 All-Americans every year! The Scrappers travel across the country to some of the nations toughest wrestling tournaments and compete at the highest level. Last year, Rodrigo Diaz, one of our highly talented wrestlers signed an athletic wrestling scholarship to the University of Missouri. He also competed in the 2016 Junior Pan-American Tournament . Our Head Freestyle/Greco-Roman Coach Adam "Bomb" Porche coached Rodrigo to winning 2 silver medals in both styles of wrestling! We have our female wrestler (Raven Guidry) who signed an athletic scholarship to wrestle at Oklahoma City University. She is the first female in Lafayette parish and the third female in the state of Louisiana to wrestle in college! Raven also placed 4th at Girls freestyle/Greco at Fargo Nationals in 2014. Some of our accomplishments include: Missouri signee Rodrigo Diaz(220 lbs) 2016 Pan-American Tournament Silver medalist Oklahoma City signee Raven Guidry (106 lbs) One 2x National Champion Two National Runner Ups One 4th place finisher at Fargo Nationals 20 All-Americans 25 Louisiana State Champions 20 Louisiana State Runner Ups 15 Louisiana 3rd place Finishes This is just a few of the many accomplishments that The Lafayette Scrappers Wrestling Club have produced. Our program is always striving to maximize each and every kids ability to be successful on and off the mat.
